Stain Block Paint

A solvent-based, high-quality stain-blocking primer sealer based on modified alkyd resin with a flat matt finish. Suitable for interior and exterior use on previously painted surfaces, cured plaster and cement coatings, concrete, brick, metals, wood and rigid PVC. About the
Stain Block

Formulated as a high-opacity barrier sealer, it locks in common household and site stains—including nicotine, smoke, water marks, graffiti inks and water-soluble tannins—so they don’t telegraph through subsequent coats. On mixed substrates it evens out porosity and colour, creating a uniform, paint-ready surface that accepts both water- and solvent-based topcoats without reactivation. The fast-drying, easy-to-apply film helps accelerate turnaround while maintaining consistent, professional results. Choose it whenever speed, reliable stain blocking, strong adhesion and cross-system compatibility are essential on the same job.

Ensure substrates are sound, clean, suitably dry and free from contaminants that impair adhesion; remove loose/flaking coatings and repair defects.

Chalking/weathered/porous powdery surfaces: treat with a colourless surface stabiliser.

Metals: remove oil and rust.

Wood: sand with the grain; remove dust and any seeping resin; treat bare wood with a wood preserver.

Before priming stained areas, remove as much of the stain as possible by washing, sanding or scraping.
For full guidance, refer to the Technical Data Sheet at wrxtrade.co.uk.

Do not apply in damp/humid conditions or below +8 °C.

Stir well before use. Ready to use; if required, thin up to 10% dearomatised white spirit (over-thinning may reduce stain-blocking and adhesion).

Apply by brush, medium-pile roller or spray. Load the brush generously, apply evenly, avoid over-spreading.

In most cases one coat is sufficient; porous areas or some stains may need a second coat.
